Job overview

Applications are invited for the post of Band 2 0.6 WTE Orthoptic & paediatric ophthalmology administrative support. The post covers a Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.

You will be joining our diverse team of orthoptists, consultants and other administrative support, working in a friendly department covering varied duties and liaising with a wide variety of staff and patients.

You will need to demonstrate dedication, enthusiasm and motivation as well as being able to work alone and as part of a team.

You will undertake varied administrative duties as required and requested by the team. 

 

Main duties of the job

To work as an integral member of the Orthoptic team assisting all members of the orthoptic team, to ensure that the patient’s journey, from referral to follow up is effective and efficient. This will include varied administrative duties, word processing, answering telephone enquiries, making / altering appointments and supporting other members of the Orthoptic team. It will include the use of all Trust systems including Medway, choose & book, Careflow, Savience and Opera ensuring safe data quality collection.

To communicate effectively between the multi-disciplinary team including clinicians, management teams and outside agencies including clinics, schools and optometrists as well as patients and their carers.

To assist with the organisation of wating lists, clinics (including community clinics), appointments and timetables to ensure Trust and departmental targets and standards are met and maintained.
