Main duties of the job

We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated Technician to join the Pharmacy Procurement. This position will be required to support the procurement team during maternity leave. This is an excellent opportunity to understand the procurement process and develop further skills in another area of pharmacy. On the job support and training will also be provided for the successful candidate.

All applicants that meet the required criteria will be considered based on the support that can be provided during maternity cover period.

 

The previous experience we are looking for as follows:

  • Co-ordinating / managing workload and staff
  • Experience of working with Pharmacy computer systems
  • Communicating to multidisciplinary team(s) and staff within a pharmacy setting
  • Evidence of problem solving and improving practices
  • Effective organisational skills

The successful candidate will support the medicines procurement functions, including liaising with suppliers, other departments and external customers.

We are looking for someone who is able to show initiative; is helpful and approachable; organised and can work accurately; good IT skills, problem solving and communication skills.

You will have previous experience in a similar environment, with a willingness to work in other areas within pharmacy when required.

Education and qualifications

Essential criteria
  • NVQ level 3 in Pharmaceutical Services or National BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent nationally recognised qualification plus accredited underpinning knowledge
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council
Desirable criteria
  • Member of the Association of Pharmacy Technicians UK
  • A1 NVQ Assessor Qualification or willing to undertake
  • National Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Recent experience of working within a pharmacy department as a Pharmacy Technician.
  • Commitment and evidence of professional updating and continuous professional development
  • Experience of multidisciplinary and/or collaborative working
  • Experience of working with a Pharmacy computer system e.g. JAC or EMIS (ASCRIBE)
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working within medicines procurement environment.
  • Experience of leading and managing a team
  • Experience of dealing with difficult and complex situations, queries and complaints
  • Experience of negotiating with healthcare staff, suppliers and/or external organisations
  • Experience of writing / updating procedures and training documentation
